The Myth.

An old lady named Elly Kedward is accused of witchcraft and banished from the town of Blair located in North Central Maryland.  She is presumed dead but by midwinter all of her accusers along with half of the child population of the town vanish.  And so the town is known as cursed with various witness accounts of the Blair Witch (elly kedward) causing havoc and death within the burkittsville woods including the odd disappearances and disembowelments of several of the children living in Burkittsville.

The film.

The Blair witch project stars heather Donahue, Joshua Leonard and Michael Williams.  It cost almost nothing to make but yet made a huge impact on the box office.  The theme is that three young students who have been given a school project to research the legend of the Blair witch, venture into the burkittsville woods and are never seen or heard of again.   A year later their video footage is found and reveals disturbing scenes and occurrences leading to their disappearance and fate.
